How It Works
The Dr Pen Auto Microneedle System is a revolutionary micro-needling skincare device which aims to tighten, lift and rejuvenate your skin.
Dr Pen is a handheld device designed to be used at home or in-clinic with a medical practitioner.
Which skin care concerns can be treated through microneedling?
By microneedling at home once per month, its possible to improve the appearance of the following:
Micro-Channelling
As we age, the new growth skin cycle slows and sadly less collagen and elastin are produced by our skin. This results in fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots (pigmentation). Applying creams and serums may help you moisturise the outer layer of dead skin, but no penetration is happening, to the living part of the skin. The active mollecules are simply too big to pass through the very protective epidermis layer. Dr Pen creates ''micro-channels'' allowing for deeper penetration of serums and ingredients ending up in higher efficacy, meaning you get more out of a serum.
When you move Dr Pen over the skin, it creates a ''micro-channel'' so it is recommended you use it with a serum such as hyaluronic acid or EGF.
These micro injuries also trigger the body's natural healing process to create the appearance of fresher, newer looking skin.
Collagen Induction Therapy
Micro-needling is a process called collagen induction therapy (CIT). CIT is the skin's own ability to repair itself. By using Dr Pen, you are treating yourself to CIT and creating controlled induction of the skin's self-repair process by doing deliberate micro injuries to the skin. This then creates and triggers the release of growth factors of new collagen and elastin, which we loose as we get older.
Dr Pen Auto Microneedle System is a non-invasive treatment which gives your skin a perfect glow, Micro-needling targets horrible fine lines, texture, stretch marks, loss of tone, and elasticity, enlarged pores, acne scarring and pigmentation.
How to use
The cartridge comes in a sterile pack
Double-cleanse (cleanse and repeat) then wipe the skin clean. Fully tie back your hair, away from your face.
Work in small areas and apply serum to each area before needling. This will help to ensure that the pen does not drag or pull on the skin. The recommended pattern to in which to operate the pen for best results is vertical, horizontal, and then diagonal in both directions. Using a light pressure and without dragging, repeat this motion over each area two times.
Please note: comprehensive instructions are included with the device, including diagrams and advice on getting the best results.

Does it hurt?
There is some pain associated with microneedling, however, using a numbing cream will be extremely helpful. The amount of pain also depends on the needle length you choose to use.
Downtime
There is no downtime as such, however, the first day or two after your treatment you will experience redness and your skin will flake off, this is normal. Avoid using Dr Pen if you have any important events within 48 - 72 hours post treatment.
